I still remember when a single item of fashion was elected the season trend and everybody who wanted to be fashionable would be wearing the same style…looking like they themselves came out of a factory production line. Luckly, that time has gone!
Today’s fashion is democratic, it’s plural. It respects differences and it’s much more connected to each one’s style and lifestyle than standards. Obviously, the fashion industry still launches new trends every season in a attempt to create stardards; after all they need to be profitable. However, the industry has become smarter as they release a bigger number of trends than before (they can sell more…but we also have more options!) and so we can get on board just with the ones that match our style/lifestyle or flatter our body shape. We can also style these trends the way we like, being creative and applying a touch of individuality somehow. Last but not least, we can also choose not to adopt any trend. It’s completely up to us.
Here is a list of 10 trends for next Summer (already seen on the street style worn by celebrities, fashion bloggers and other kind of fashion professionals) so you can decide wether you are embrancing it and which one(s):
1.Slip Dress – this “looks-like-a-lingerie” trend from the 90’s is back. Even though the possibilites of how to style it are endless, here are some ideas: Wear it solo with a pair of stiletto heels for a romantic/sensual effect. (but you don’t want to fall into the trap of looking too sexy) or layer it over a t-shirt, pairing it with sneakers, boots or sandals for a cool/casual vibe. Accessories like a choker or a scarf on the neck are welcome. Usually, the silky material that slip dresses are made of can make this kind of garment, let’s say, intimidating. Wear a pair of skinny trousers underneath or tie a jacket or flannel around the waist to feel more confortable.
2.Choker – This statement piece was quite popular among women and girls in the 1990’s and it’s back in style. It has already been seen on the necks of fashionable females lately. If you want to know about how to wear a choker, I found a rich post here.
3.Bardot top – Featured in dresses, tops or jumpsuits, the off-the-shoulder cleavage will be a wardrobe essential.
4.All-white – Sun will be out, Sky will be bluer. All-white is the summer version for the all-black style. This option of outfit is incredibly fresh and refined at the same time. Break the monochromatic tone, styling your outfit with accessories and shoes of any colour or print. Basically, white goes well with everything.
5.Strap sandals – The gladiator style will be renovated by the new strappy sandals that have an ethnic/bohemian vibe. In flat or heels, the strap sandals will feature fringes, jewellery or Pom Pom, adding a colourful and fun touch to the season style.
6.Maxi-vests – As a third piece over a skirt or trousers, it’s an important trick for a more elaborated and elegant outfit.
7.Prints – Stripes, floral, geometrical and tribal. (I’m a print freak…love it!)
8.Organza Bomber jacket – Originally created by the American Air Force, the Bomber Jacket has become an icon of pop culture in the fashion world, worn by either mand and women around the world. The silky version of this jacket it’s been a hit this season. Next Spring/Summer it will come in a different material, organza. Organza is a light material that will make this jacket style a perfect option for hotter days. You can choose between plain, printed or with patches models to go with.
9.Tote Bag – If you like to carry a lot of things with you, trying to fit your entire life in a hand bag, so that is a good news for you! Tote bags are spacious and sturdy. You can even perfectly fit a laptop in a tote bag without having that “bloat-seams”effect that you could experience in other bag style. Versatile, this kind of bag can go to the office or to the beach, depending on which material it’s made of.
10.Orange and Blue combo – Designers are placing their bets on the strong orange and blue combo, making an interesting contrast.
